The first Cosmopolitan was published in the USA by the Hearst Corporation. In 1972, British and two spanish Cosmopolitans were the first international expansions. Australian and French were right behind in 1973. Italian followed in 1976 and Greek in 1978. Cosmopolitan saw a tactical expansion in the mid and late 80's and a spike of growth throughout the 90's. The Cosmopolitan logo has also been franchised, with everything from beauty guides to compact disc makeover kits. There are now at least 52 international editions of Cosmopolitan. |
